• Technovation Challenge is the largest technology entrepreneurship programme for girls in the world. Over 1500 girls have developed 360+ mobile apps in 2014 alone.

    What is it?

The non-profit program inspires girls to use technology and business acumen to create an app for a social cause.

Young girls do not need any programming experience to participate and the program is free for any girl to participate and learn.

A curriculum would be provided and the program would run from Feb-April i.e 12 weeks with after school classes of 4 guided hours a week.

Mentors/Coaches will follow a prescribed curriculum with recommend program/software to help girls create an app. Girls will also learn how to pitch ideas and develop business plans.

Top teams will be invited to present at World Pitch in San Francisco. One team will win $10,000 in seed funding to help them launch their app.

You can see some of the previous winners here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISeOIchChpY

Technovation Challenge partnered with UN, UNICEF and Google.

    What is required?

Schools are required to register teams consisting of 3-4 girls.

There are no limits of group registration per school.

Corporate sponsors and individual donors will support a teacher and student’s travel and other arrangements.

    Why Now?

    - Good coding education is not provided in most schools in Saudi.

Girls lack support and positive role models in computer science and technology field.

    - A culture shift is necessary in homes, communities and workplace to encourage more women to study and work in technology.

-Girls from underprivileged communities do not have access to resources to acquire skills to thrive in digital economy
